Information about carrier bags

At Asda, we're working hard to reduce the use of plastic wherever we can. As part of this commitment, we moved away from the automatic provision of carrier bags with online orders. However, during the pandemic, we have been using carrier bags to help with contact-free delivery.

We know how important reducing plastic is to you. But we recognise that carrier bags might still be helpful for some – for example, if you’re shielding or in quarantine. So, for now, you'll be able to add carrier bags to your order at checkout. We’ll donate the 40p carrier bag charge to our Fight Hunger charity. To add carrier bags to your order simply select ‘Use Carrier Bags’ before you check out. You need to do this each time you place an order.

If you decide to opt-in, the driver will leave the bags on the doorstep and wait a safe distance away while you take them in. If you choose not to have carrier bags, the driver will leave the totes on the doorstep and wait a safe distance away while you unpack your shopping. If you need additional assistance, please let us know in the delivery notes section before you submit your order, so our drivers are aware ahead of your delivery.

We’ll return to our policy of no single-use carrier bags for deliveries when we can.
